Links: Halloween Costume Ideas

Posted on October 7, 2011 by Megan 1 Comment

Remember the days of Mom & Pop costume shops where costumes were original, well-crafted, and you had way more variety than sexy-this and supposed-to-be-funny that? Unfortunately those stores are few and far between, but that just means we all need to put a little more creativity and stitch work into Halloween. We’ll be showing you our own costume picks this year, along with a how-to on making them, but in the meantime, check out these super unique ideas that we found. They might just inspire you to put down that pre-packaged, mass produced costume and try to make your own this year.

This Weeping Angel costume might be the coolest costume ever. If you don’t watch Dr. Who you are missing out!!

These Leg Crawlers would make a really simple, yet creepy costume.

Regan from The Exorcist

Melanie from The Birds

This little Edward Scissor Hands is ridiculously cute. We think the costume would work just as well for adults.

Dia de los Muertos

If you have $13,150 you can buy the above dress for a Tim Burton inspired costume. Or you can be crafty and make something similar (and much cheaper!) yourself.

Herman and Lily Munster would make a great couples costume. Wonder Costumes has both costumes here.

If you have any cool costumes you’ve made, send them on over. We’d love check them out and maybe even showcase them on Slash & Dine!

I have to admit the Weeping Angel is pretty sweet. I don’t know why women’s costumes always have to be raunchy. Every year the requirement for women to wear slutty costumes becomes younger and younger. I think we’re at about 12 years old, 100% of costumes for girls involve something highly sexual. Aren’t women people too?
